"What is wrong with my child?"

So about 10:30 this morning I'd had it. Teagan was just whiny and had been crying and hitting himself for attention all morning and I thought "what is wrong with this kid?" He hasn't been napping til 12:00 so I thought maybe he was ready for a morning snack. I stuck him in his high chair gave him his PB&J and turned around to do the dishes. I turned around and he was stuffing his face like he'd never eaten. (He'd had a piece of toast and 1 1/2 eggs and some mixed fruit for breakfast like 2 hours earlier) A few minutes later I turned around and he was asleep.

Well I guess Teagan was being rotten because he was starving and exhausted...poor kid It is a wonder how babies survive with new moms!

Good Bye Trailer Trash

My first question. Who in the heck builds an apartment with only ONE linen/storage closet???
My Second question: Who in the heck doesn't put ANY shelves in that one closet???

That would be my apartments. For the first 5 months we've lived here we've used the two additions to our table (leafs? There is no way that is how you spell it) to support cardboard boxes that hold all of our linens, cleaning supplies, tissues, soap refil, TP and more. The games were stacked between the ?leafs? along with the iron, more towels, a cooler, and dish washer soap. It was a slight disaster to say the least.
Then I begged Zac to build me shelves for my Valentines present (early) so we went to Lowe's today and picked out what we needed. I couldn't believe it was $20!!! We thought the board was $5 less, but we had been looking at the wrong sign and the board was already cut so we just had to suck it up. We hadn't planned on spending that much. But I am SOOO happy we did now!
Zac spent an hour or so building it and then I got to reorganize. I know it doesn't look that different because it's all of the same stuff, but it is so much easier to deal with. Before, if I would touch something the wrong way every thing would come crashing down. Now I'm not afraid to open the door, and my vacuum fits now so I can move that out of our room! YIPEE! I'm the luckiest woman alive. Thanks Zac, you're the best!

Divine Intervention

Tonight was our night to feed the missionaries, yet again. I decided on chicken noodle soup and homemade bread. Cheap, tasty, and easy! I read a review online to make the noodles separate and not add them until the very end so I did and I put them in a container in the fridge.
Zac had to work tonight at one of the labs at his school so I dropped off the missionary's dinner in a ziplock and we went over to eat dinner with Zac. When we got there and opened up the food I realized that I never added the noodles! The soup was a little chicken, lots of carrots, and onions and somes spices and lots of the liquid part. It wouldn't have filled up any normal human, there just wasn't anything to it! The noodles were supposed to be the "meat" of the soup for economic reasons.
I feel bad for the elders, hopefully they have cereal or something to fill them the rest of the way up, but then I realized that maybe this was a good thing!!! I was reminded of a childhood poem:

If you have to wash the dishes,
Such an awful, boring chore
If you have to wash the dishes,
'stead of going to the store,
If you have to wash the dishes,
And you drop one on the floor...
Maybe they won't make you wash the dishes anymore.

Brilliant!!! That is what I call Divine Intervention.*** :) Just kidding, we really don't mind feeding the elders, they just eat such an incredible amount of food!

PS while I was at Zac's school I got to play in the wax maker. It is used to warm up people's hands I guess, but it felt SO cool. I dipped my hand in the wax about 5 or 6 times and look what I ended up with. My favorite part was peeling it off. I LOVE peeling off stuff like that. It is so satisfying it was like 10 times better than a bad sunburn peel...I know that is disgusting, but I know I'm not the only crazy girl who likes to peel!
Zac had to refrain me from getting too out of control so I had to stop, but I could have played in that stuff all night. I've decided that I want to do that with my whole body, how amazing would that be!
***Do I need to explain the joke here? I'm afraid it won't be funny if I explain, but I'm afraid that my blog readers aren't experienced enough poetry analyzers to get what I'm getting at. Replace "wash the dishes" with "feed the missionaries" and you will see.

Is that Michael Jackson???

Teagan has been really advancing in some of his dance moves. His favorite dance artist is Michael Jackson so he is trying to get some of the basics down.

This morning he was practicing the "Thriller" dance, he's really talented, as you can see by the picture.

His moon walk is really improving too. Teagan is just really athletic I guess.

Other news on Teagan:

-He LOVES brushing his own teeth. I brush them first and then he'll continue brushing for about 10-15 minutes, he is very thorough.

-Teagan LOVES to be naked. When daddy bathes him he lets him run out to me naked and Teagan squeals and giggles the whole time. A robe is almost as good. I hope we don't turn into one of those families that is always naked!

-Teagan LOVES to play outside. He loves the dirt and rocks and bushes and tree trunks. Even when he is SO exhausted (like in the picture) he will play outside for hours. I have to bring out a watch so I don't' forget to give him lunch because he doesn't care about hunger when he is in the great outdoors!

-Teagan loves to run. There is a huge grassy area at our complex and he loves to run as fast as possible. Sometimes we race, but then he finds a stick and must stop to pick it up.

-Teagan is so brave. He'll be running, trip and roll down a little hill and he just jumps up and takes off again. He is a man on a mission.
-Teagan loves to find sticks and wave them in the air while he runs. He also likes banging sticks against rocks, trees, sidewalks, and posts. Who knew that sticks were such great toys.

-Teagan has a soft side too. He LOVES his special yellow blanket (any name suggestions?) He would carry it every if I let him, alas I am so mean and make him keep it in his crib most of the time.

-When Teagan starts getting grumpy he loves to cuddle up with mommy or daddy and his blanket and bubba and read stories or watch Sesame Street.

I just wanted to write a quick journal entry about my special little guy. He is 13 months now, I can't believe how fast the time has gone!

Time to Rearrange

Wow, time passes so quickly. I swear that just a few weeks ago Zac and I were wondering whether Teagan was going to figure out how to climb up the chair and onto the counter. He did, and I've never seen a more proud little guy! We shouldn't have allowed him to, but it was a very weak moment in parenting, what's done is done. Now we have to undo what we've done.

The problem is that we have no where else to put this chair. I know that if I don't move it he will climb it while I'm going to the bathroom and fall on the tile or something. That is a little too scary. For now I think I'll just push it into the middle of the living room. That will look really nice.

Have you read the Bible lately?

It is time for this post. It is very necessary. I mad a new year's resolution to read the whole Old Testament. I've read the New testament, Book of Mormon, and D&C at least once, but I've never even attempted the Old TEstament until now.

I decided that it is an important part of being an adult who claims to believe in the bible, as far as it is translated correctly of course. I am almost done with Exodus (page 150 or so) and wow, this book is crazy. Reading the "Prince of Egypt" story about Moses was great but WHY are there 10 million chapters about how to build a tent temple? I'm afraid that my determination to read the WHOLE thing is wearing off, all Zac says is just wait until Isaiah.

I figure that if I do a post about it then I HAVE to fulfil my goal. The history lesson is really interesting, but sometimes it makes me angry when the women are treated only as a means of child production. It is so strange that a few thousand years ago things were so different. Then I wonder what heaven will be like; bible times, or now times. If it is going to be like it was in the Old Testament I'm going to have to get a lot more faithful before I die. :) Luckily, I know who I'll be with for eternity and I know that I'm more than a means of child production to him.

Anywho, as you can see, reading the bible has made me an extremely deep thinker. Has anyone ever actually read the WHOLE thing? Was it a good experience in the end? Wish me luck!

Somedays you feel like a Fabulous mom!

When Teagan was 3-5 months old he was with babysitters and day care while I finished teaching for the school year. Today I was looking in my scrapbooking pile and I found some of his art projects from day care and I realized that he has talent. Then I decided that I wanted to make sure that he was getting quality craft time in at home so that home could be better than day care so we had a craft party.

We colored paper plates, decorated them with stickers and stamps and taped them together with beans inside. He loved coloring and shaking the plates after we were done. I think we will do it again tomorrow with paper cups! I have to admit that I was a little proud of myself for putting forth some effort, and Teagan was so happy, it was worth it.

Here is a video of him with the plate...then he found my phone...
