Think Pink

These girls have so much fun together! They love to change their clothes so that they match. So cute!

Teager Reader

Teagan won the award for the most improved male reader in his class this year. We were so proud of him! He has worked hard this year, and I have noticed a huge leap in his reading!  His favorite books are usually superhero type books, but he also loves a good adventure story or anything that makes him laugh.

Teagan and his fabulous teacher, Mrs. Ishino.

Friday was the last day of school, we are so excited to have him home for the summer!

Pocketknife Mania

Teagan got a leatherman pocketknife from his Grandpa Durtschi and he LOVES it.  The second he gets home from school he puts it on his belt with the knife and starts searching out opportunities to use it.

When anybody is doing any sort of work, Teagan asks if he can help with his pocketknife. I think his favorite part is going back to Grandpa Durtschi and reporting what he's used it for.

He's helped cut wires, open cans, and cut strings and packaging.  When someone isn't in need of his super hero knife help, he whittles away at sticks, smoothing them out.  It is fun to watch him enjoy himself so much.

Unfortunately, of the two months he's had it, it has probably only been in his possession for half of that, because, at age 7, he still has a lot to learn about knife safety.

Here are some reasons it's been confiscated (they are funny now that everyone is still alive).
-walking around with the blade out and haphazardly waving it
-trying to use it to cut valued possessions
-Trying to stab and kill a bothersome fly while jumping on the trampoline (when i witnessed this one, I about had a heart attack)
-Sneaking it to church and pulling it out during class for an object lesson...this deserves a story.  His teacher asked them what they would've had to leave behind if they had been part of Nephi's family. Teagan replied that he would've had to leave his clothes behind. Then his teacher asked what one item they would've brought into the wilderness. Teagan pulled out his pocketknife and said he would bring his pocketknife so that he could kill animals for food and shred their fur to make clothes.  Meanwhile, I was wrestling a tired baby in the foyer and I felt like I needed to check on him so I peeked through his class window as he was showing his knife off to friends.  I just opened the door and looked at him, quizzically, and he brought the knife right over, "dad said its okay to bring it to church..."  No comment on that...  When he told us about his lesson later that day, I was dying trying not to laugh as he told about what he would have done if he were Nephi.  I have to admit that I am pretty proud that Teagan had such a logical thought process.

Teagan is slowly learning how to be more responsible with his new found favorite tool, but teaching a 7 year old boy when and how to use a knife is no small undertaking.  Never a dull moment with our Teagan.

Second Chance Prom

Zac and I went to second chance prom this last weekend. We had such a great time! We went with a group of 10 couples; neighbors, family and some new friends.

I don't know everyone's names...it was pretty loud for conversing...

L-R Jared and Courtney Heath, Adrienne ???, Brian and Elise Durtschi, us, Melissa and josh Newell, Burke and Stacy Davis, Matt and Annie, ???, Emily and ? Evans, Doug and Sara.

We started the night by going to the new Japanese restaurant by Edwards theater, I think it's called Fuji. It was so delicious!

They cook the food right in front of you, so you get dinner and a show. I love that we could have a group of 14 all sitting around the same table!

After dinner we headed to the dance and danced the night away. :-) We had so much fun, and got a really good workout. Ha ha

I'm so glad that our friends Courtney and Jared convinced us to go, this is definitely going to become a yearly tradition.

Mother's Day

I love being a mom and I love these kids! Today was great,  Zac and the kids were so sweet.  My favorite part was  taking all the sleeping bags, pillows, and blankets out on the trampoline and jumping with Teagan and Eloise.  I did hurt my knee and neck so I guess I'm getting too old for trampolines, but it was still a blast.

Our yearly pre-church picture was interesting.  Some children struggle with smiling, I am determined to just enjoy this stage though, because one day I will look back and love seeing these silly kids being themselves.

And I love the man that is my better half in raising these munchkins.

Tonight while reading scriptures it was me then addy, Ellie and Teagan on the couch.  Adeline is just learning to go from sitting to crawling and was practicing on Eloise by trying to tackle her.  They were both giggling which made us all laugh pretty hard.  At first, Zac and I tried to stop them and break it up, but eventually we all just laughed and enjoyed the moment.  It was one of those special times where I realized that all the hard work I do in raising the kids is completely worth it.  There is nothing I'd rather do than be a mom.

Easter

We had a great Easter.  We watched conference, had a treasure hunt and then spent the afternoon with grandma and grandpa Daniels.

These two are best buddies as usual.  Addy loves her Grandpa Casper

The kids enjoyed Easter egg hunts with the Durtschi side and their primary too!  So much fun!

Spin Girl

This little girl loves to wear dresses.  She will spin and leap and twirl all day.  Such a sweet girl.

She loves this dress because, "it has a bib and an apple."

Her favorite dress is this purple one though. She will wear it every single day that it is clean. She has also been known to dig through the dirty clothes trying to find it. It's knit, so it's super soft, but more importantly, it's very "spinnie."

I love to watch Eloise love life.  She is so happy, constantly singing and dancing, completely carefree.  She is a joy to have in our family.
